Wireframe Sea

Wireframe Sea is the collection at its most contemplative. The ocean — that oldest of Romantic subjects — is stripped to a glowing mesh of cyan and magenta, rolling in low waves beneath an enormous, pale neon moon. Reyes replaces the sublime of paint with the sublime of the simulation: nature rendered as data, vast and serene and entirely synthetic. The restraint is striking after the genre's usual excess; here there is only the luminous grid, the gradient sky and a scatter of stars. It recalls the earliest dream of computer graphics, when a wireframe could stand in for the whole visible world. Calm, hypnotic and quietly profound, it turns retro-futurism toward stillness.

An original oil painting on canvas by Nova Reyes, painted to order — never a reproduction. Retro-futurist vaporwave — neon gradients, perspective grids, chrome and synthwave sunsets in electric magenta, cyan and purple.
