Midnight Drive

Midnight Drive trades the synthwave grid for cinema. A neon skyline of magenta and cyan towers stands mirrored in wet asphalt while long-exposure tail-lights carve red and white ribbons across the foreground, a small moon presiding above. Reyes works here in the idiom of the night-city photograph — the cyberpunk metropolis of Blade Runner — but heightens it until colour itself becomes the subject. The streaking lights lend the still image duration: we sense the car that made them, the hum of the road, the loneliness of the late hour. Moody and atmospheric, it is the most narrative work in the collection — a single frame from a film the viewer is invited to finish.

An original oil painting on canvas by Nova Reyes, painted to order — never a reproduction. Retro-futurist vaporwave — neon gradients, perspective grids, chrome and synthwave sunsets in electric magenta, cyan and purple.
